Christmas Around My House . December 2013

Welcome to  a little tour of my  house...which at this time of year becomes my old prim Christmas House!  I have whole nother big box of greenery, garlands, and all sorts of goodies and  things that I didn't drag out this year so it is a bit more bare than usual....haven't felt a whole lot of Christmas Spirit as this year has brought the greatest heart ache I have ever known. First the death of my beloved dear BFF of 20 years, my dear, dear Sandy Schmidt who sadly passed away from cancer September 5th, 2013.. I miss her more than I can ever say. My heart is so broken and life so lonely w/o her. Then, tragically only a matter of weeks after her death was the sudden death of my dear sweet brother in law, Bob Margraf. This has indeed been a horribly tragic and difficult year with more sorrow than I have ever known. Two people who are so wonderful and giving and that I loved so much... and now am missing so much. I love you both so very much. Most all my decorations (as with many of us) have a story and a wonderful memory to go with, most of mine are connected with my BFF Sandy. I have posted pics from the front porch, living room, kitchen and back porch. Hope you enjoy my humble little tour......  Starting with the wreath on front porch window, my ice cicle lights.. the blue tear drop.. love them.
Front porch. My house oddly has two doors on front porch that lead into house.
Tried to get a pic of the ice cicle lights while they were on at night, they are so beautiful.
On the front door....Wooden Candy Cane that I brought from a friend of Sandy's, her name is Ann... at the Market Day show years ago.
Christmas Tree clippings that I got from a local Christmas Tree lot.Used it through out the house and porches.
More Greenery on the front porch.
More greenery on front porch covers a bird house made from old Barn Wood.. bird house was purchased from a local antique store.

Christmas Around My House . December 2013

Yet another purchase from The Olde Green CupBoard in Jacksonville.. this was purchased the very first time of many, many returns to that shop that Sandy Schmidt and I would make there together over the years.  But sadly, it is no longer in business. And so terribly sadly.. my BFF Sandy passed away a couple of months ago.. September 5, 2013. I love and miss her so very much. But back to the Santa.. He is handmade by a woman who lived locally. Sandy and I both purchased  Santa's that day and paid a pretty penny for them too! He sits in a chair that has a hand painted chicken on it that was purchased from a local artist. This is in kitchen at end of the bar. Can see the doggies dishes!
The mini Mason Jars on my light string over the white Hoosier Cabinet in kitchen.
Long view of part of the kitchen.
Remember these dime store sparkly glittery old elves back in very early 60's??? Brings back childhood memories. These were an ebay purchase years ago. These are sitting on wooden box next to another Colonial Tin lamp in my living room by front door.

Christmas Around My House . December 2013

Next to the doorway in living room leads to my sewing room. Another Santa that my BFF Sandy had made. I believe he is from a Chestnut Junction pattern. The snowmen are all store purchases, imports.
The Kitchen! I have two very old Hoosier Cabinets in there, a large white one and a smaller brown one. This white one I have had about 20 years, the man I bought it from when I lived in Florida was in his 70's and it belonged to HIS grandmother!! It is an oldie for sure and is in very good condition. The cow picture hand painted on an old window was a local craft show purchase.I strung the lights over Hoosier cabinet and put the mini Mason Jar ornies on them. I made the reindeer head with glowing nose from a pattern.. can't remember who it is by. The Santa and Caroler are a project that Sandy and I made together when I visited her at Christmas. She decided we were going to do a project that year and come up with a pattern.. so we did.. she made the Santa and I made the Caroler. Such wonderful memories, I miss her so much.
Another view in kitchen, throw quilt on table. I bought the Red Bird salt and pepper shaker set @ Walmart in Starke when I was with Sandy yet another Christmas Season.
The Snowman sitter is one Sandy made and gave to me, he sits on the kitchen table. It had lights and more greenery but the years have taken a toll on him... poor guy.
My Prim Tree in the kitchen sits on a high chair that belonged to me as a child. My dear old Dad had held on to it all those years and gave it to me many years ago.The candles are painted as grunged candy canes , purchased off ebay. I wrapped rusty wire around them and hung them on the tree, an idea I got from Sandy. The grunged pipe cleaner garland is from The Olde Country Cupboard. I put a string of white lights on the tree also and I love it. Makes me think of Sandy.
The Brown Hoosier cabinet in kitchen. The doll is another Olde Green Cupboard purchase. The red and white quilt stocking is a reject piece that Sandy passed off to me.. lol.. and the rag strip and bead garland is hand made by my daughter Celena Jem.
An awesome perfectly prim fabric grunged card holder, paid small fortune for it years ago but I love it.  It's another purchase from a shopping trip with my BFF Sandy Schmidt at The Olde Green CupBoard!!!

Christmas Around My House . December 2013

Living room, doorway leads into sewing room. The Santa hanging from the cupboard is one my BFF Sandy Schmidt  bought from a vendor and gave to me as a Christmas gift several years ago. I will always cherish everything she made or gave to me.
Love these old chairs, have two of them and both are about the same shape.. broken down! The Elf is one my BFF Sandy Schmidt made and used as her model for the pattern cover. I have several of her  dolls, mostly Christmas items, that she made and used as her pattern cover models for the patterns she designed over the years. The candy cane bundle is a purchase from a craft show, they are sooooo prim and cute
My old piano now sits in my sewing room. Lots of old Christmas books displayed on it that  I accumulated over many years.

Christmas Around My House . December 2013

By the front door, living room
Colonial Tin lamp, mouse in sleigh hat I made, JOY sign from the wholesale group and the Ball that I bought at Market Days from Tucker's Farm House.
Chair in living room, pillow and throw. Very Cozy.
One of my favorite old cupboards that I have, living room.
Fireplace with replica stove, living room. The stocking are hung by the chimney with care, of course!
Ooooh, one of my favorite Santa's! Had this guy about 12 years. The wall quilt behind him on the old chair is one my BFF Sandy Schmidt made. I bought the Santa at Market Days from a lady named Susan Herndon, she always had the most fabulous booth and the display was so inviting. Made you want to buy everything she had and believe me I used to buy a LOT of stuff from her back in the day!

Christmas Around My House . December 2013

Nativity over fireplace mantle. I picked up a ton of greenery clippings from  local Christmas Tree lot and used it through out the house and on front and back porches.
Old salvaged dresser from same field as I found the old green dresser. Bottom drawer was un salvageable so I left it off and filled it with old folded quilts. Had a lot of work to do on the dresser to get it useable. Apparently at one time it had a mirror attached to the posts on each side. Made a nice display in living room with Christmas decorations.

The Tree! TAADA!! Popcorn Garland and Dustin's picture ornament he made at school last year.
Coffee table holds my favorite table  trio candle center piece, I had bought the holder at Market Days a number of years ago.
Elf On The Shelf! LOL...My BFF Sandy Schmidt's twin sister, Cyndy, made the elf and I purchased it at one of her shows. The snowman w/ the candy cane is from a Sweet Meadow's Farm pattern ,  I purchased him years ago also off ebay, some one else had made it.
LOVE this olde Rocker. I purchased it from Tucker's Farm House at the Market Day's show many years ago, one of the many times I was there with my beloved BFF Sandy Schmidt. I miss her so much.
